The Tar Heels shouldn’t be on upset alert tonight but I also don’t see them covering as double-digit favorites. The Rebels have covered in five of their last seven games dating back to last season, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games versus an opponent with a winning record and have cashed four of their last five tickets when playing a team with a winning percentage above .600. UNLV is also a perfect 5-0 against the spread the last five times it has suited up on a Monday.
North Carolina, meanwhile, is just 3-12 against the spread in its last 15 games following a game in which the Heels won straight up. They’re also just 1-4 against the number in their last five games when playing a team with a losing record. At least dating back to last season, UNC has struggled to come back out following a win and rout an opponent that it’s clearly superior than and I believe that same situation will play out tonight.
