Kentucky drops another to Arkansas
LEXINGTON, KY (TheSpread) – The feeling all season was the Kentucky would start slow, but finish this year fast. Is that still the case after last night’s loss to Arkansas?
Thursday night, the Wildcats went to OT for the second consecutive game, but this time lost to Arkansas 71-67. Kentucky has now lost twice to Arkansas this season, both instances in OT.
Kentucky is now 21-7 on the season and 11-4 in the SEC, now out of the running for the regular season SEC crown. Kentucky is also 12-2-2 against the spread this season and the picture of inconsistency. Even in recent wins, the Wildcats have struggled. Six of their conference wins have been by 10 points or less. In a lackluster SEC, that is a concern heading into the NCAA Tournament.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Kentucky now has 14/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament this year. The Wildcats opened the season as one of the favorites, starting with 5/1 odds. The latest ESPN.com Bracketology has Kentucky listed as a No. 5 seed, which is not conducive to a strong run in the tournament.
The 2014 NCAA Tournament field will be announced on March 16 with the Final Four taking place from AT&T Stadium on April 5 and the championship game on April 7.
