Iowa dominates MSU again
No. 16 Iowa completed a season sweep of No. 4 Michigan State on Thursday night. Are the Hawkeyes a legit contender for this year’s NCAA Tournament?

On Thursday, Iowa went to East Lansing and defeated Michigan State 76-59. The Hawkeyes already had an 83-70 win over the Spartans at home when MSU was without Denzel Valentine, but Michigan State had him on the floor for Thursday’s game and it didn’t make any difference. Iowa shot 45 percent from 3-point land in the victory and was led by Peter Jok, who had 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting.

Iowa is now 13-3 on the season and 4-0 in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes have won six straight, including a win at Purdue to go along with the wins over Michigan State. Iowa has suffered losses to Dayton, Notre Dame and Iowa State. Leading Iowa this season is Jarrod Uthoff, who is averaging 18.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game. Iowa has never won the NCAA Tournament, only reaching the Final Four three times in program history. Its last Final Four game in 1980. Fran McCaffery is in his fifth season as head coach. Iowa has won 20 games or more the last three years.
