Gonzaga Player Spotlight
Filip Petrusev (lower leg) is starting Saturday’s game against Pacific, Jim Meehan of the Spokesman-Review reports. The sophomore forward was expected to be a game-time decision, and he’ll end up taking the court without missing a game due to the lower leg issue. Petrusev is averaging 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 blocks in 24.9 minutes this season.
San Francisco Player Spotlight
Khalil Shabazz had 32 points (10-10 FG, 6-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one steal in Saturday’s 83-82 win over BYU. Shabazz made all 10 of his shot attempts in just 25 minutes off the bench to give the Dons one of their best victories of the season. The sophomore guard has provided a spark outside of the starting five a few times this year, but Saturday’s barrage of scoring was easily the best performance of his career.
NCAA College Basketball Betting Trends
Gonzaga
The Bulldogs have covered the spread in five of their last six games overall and are 6-1 against the number in their last seven games when facing an opponent with a winning percentage above .600.
San Francisco
The Dons are just 4-9-1 at the betting window in their last 14 games as an underdog and have failed to cover in seven of their last 10 home games.
Prediction
Gonzaga is rolling and San Francisco has struggled at the window, but I see more value in the total. The over is 7-1 in the Bulldogs’ last eight road games, is 6-1 in their last seven games when they’re favored on the road and is 11-1 in their last 12 games when facing an opponent with a winning percentage above .600. The over is also 19-7-1 in the Dons’ last 27 home games, is 7-3 in their last 10 games as an underdog and has cashed in 12 of their last 17 games when they’re a home dog like today.
