Oregon vs. Georgetown Pick
The Maui Invitational gets underway on Monday and No. 4 Oregon faces a challenge when it takes on Georgetown at 4:30PM ET. Who has the edge?
These two meet from the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Oregon is favored at home, as the Ducks are getting odds of -9 points against the Hoyas. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 154 points. Oregon has won and covered the spread in two straight meetings with Georgetown.
The Ducks come into this game at 2-1 on the season and 1-2 against the spread. Oregon suffered a 66-49 loss at Baylor last week and owns wins over Army and Valpo. The Ducks are putting up 72 points per game this season while allowing 65.7 points per contest. Chris Boucher is averaging 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game to lead the Ducks while Jordan Bell has some impressive numbers of 12.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.3 blocks per game.
Georgetown comes in limping to Hawaii, as the Hoyas have lost two straight, falling to Maryland 76-75 and Arkansas State 78-72. Georgetown has yet to cover this season, as their win came in a game without a line. They were favored in both losses, including being a 22-point favorite in the loss to Arkansas State. The Hoyas are putting up 84 points per game thus far, but allowing 71.3 points per contest. Both Rodney Pryor and L.J. Peak are each putting up 17.7 points per game this season to lead the team.

Georgetown hasn’t looked great this season. The loss to Maryland isn’t the worst thing, but the Hoyas followed that up with a poor showing against Arkansas State. While Oregon lost to Baylor by double digits, it bounce back nicely against Valpo. On a neutral floor, I like the Ducks to control tempo and pick up the win today. Oregon has the defense to contain Georgetown.
