Purdue vs. Michigan State Pick
Michigan State is in need of a win over a ranked opponent. Can it get it tonight against No. 20 Purdue at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Purdue is a slight road favorite, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -2 points against the Spartans. The over/under total for the game tonight is listed at 141 points. Michigan State has won eight of its last 10 against Purdue, going 7-2 against the spread in those nine games.
Bet on Purdue vs. Michigan State
Michigan State has been a very hot-and-cold team, but lacking in much consistency. The Spartans are 12-8 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten following back-to-back losses on the road to Indiana and Penn State. MSU is just 1-3 against the spread in its last four and 9-10 ATS on the season. This year, MSU averages just 72.2 points per game on offense and allows 67.8. At home, MSU is putting up 77.5 points per game and giving up only 63.6 on defense. Miles Bridges averages 15.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game to lead the Spartans while Nick Ward is adding 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.
Purdue has won the last two games to get to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers have covered in three of the last four and are now 11-6 ATS on the season. Purdue has a pretty good offense that is averaging 82.8 points per game, but the Boilermakers are putting up only 72.7 per game on the road. Defensively, Purdue is allowing 65.7 per game, but that number also jumps up on the road to 76.3. Caleb Swanigan is leading the team with 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while Isaac Haas is averaging 13.6 points and 5.4 boards per game.

Michigan State is a tough team to figure out, but the Spartans have been pretty good at home. They have won their last four at home, including an 18-point win over Minnesota. With four freshmen heavily in the mix, road woes can happen, but so can uplifting performances at home. Swanigan will be a tough matchup with MSU’s lack of size, but I expect the Spartans to limit the rest of the Purdue lineup, which struggles on the road. Tom Izzo’s team needs this win and I think they will get it.
