This 12-team tournament is standard format with four first-round games on Wednesday then the quarterfinals starting Friday with four games until the finals take place on Sunday. The seeding is done by division and then each opening-round game crosses divisions.
Coastal Carolina is the No. 1 seed out of the South after going 11-5 in conference play and 18-12 overall. Coastal Carolina has won this tournament three times, with the last championship coming in 1993.
Charleston Southern is the No. 5 seed out of the South, going just 6-10 in conference play and 12-17 overall. Southern has won this tournament four times, but the last victory game in 1997.
UNC Asheville went 10-6 in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed out of the south. Asheville went 16-14 on the season. Asheville is a four-time Big South Tournament winner, with the last win coming in 2012.
