(The Spread) – Despite winning the tournament in 2011, the UConn Huskies are not favored to win the 2012 Men’s College Basketball Tournament.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made North Carolina +250 money line favorites to win the 2012 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament, despite their loss to Kentucky in last year’s March Madness tourney.

It’s easy to see why the Tar Heels are favored to win next year considering Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and Johns Henson will all return to Chapel Hill next year. Roy Williams has also landed some five-star recruits in forward James McAdoo and forward P.J. Hairston.

Speaking of Kentucky, oddsmakers have made them +500 on the money line to win next year. The Wildcats’ odds are a bit surprising seeing as how stars Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight and sixth man DeAndre Liggins are reportedly going to declare for the NBA draft. But with the return of Doron Lamb and a quartet of five-star prospects in Anthony Davis, Kyle Wiltjer, Marquis Teague and Michael Gilchrist, it’s easy to see why oddsmakers are high on this team.

But what about the defending champs? The Huskies are +3000 on the money line to win next year, giving them the same odds as Arizona, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan and Michigan State. Obviously losing Kemba Walker to the NBA draft has hurt UConn’s chances to repeat, and there’s a small chance that head coach Jim Calhoun will retire instead of returning for another season.

Other notable odds include Butler at +6000, Duke at +2500 and Ohio State at +700. Florida and Gonzaga are both +4000, as are Wisconsin and Xavier, respectively. To check out a full list of 2012 College Basketball Tournament Odds, see below.
