BOSTON (AP) -Former New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury has cleared waivers, moving one step closer to signing with a new team.
Marbury, who hasn’t played a regular-season game in more than a year, is eligible to sign with a team and play in the postseason. He was expected to sign with the Boston Celtics on Friday for a pro-rated share of the veteran’s minimum.
The former All-Star, who alienated Knicks management, teammates and fans, is expected to be available for Boston’s game against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.
