MILWAUKEE (AP) -Dwight Howard will not play in the Orlando Magic’s game at Milwaukee on Monday, as coach Stan Van Gundy tries to get his star some rest before the playoffs begin.
With starters Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis already sitting out because of nagging injuries, Van Gundy said it was a good time to rest Howard as well.
“If they were OK to play, we’d be playing everybody. But with them out, it was a good time, I thought, to give Dwight some rest. He’s been playing a little bit tired.”
Lewis has right knee tendinitis and Turkoglu has a sprained left ankle. Van Gundy said he hopes to have his starters back for Wednesday’s regular season finale against Charlotte.
