NEW ORLEANS (AP) -All-Star Carmelo Anthony did not start and was not expected to play against the New Orleans Hornets on Monday night.
Anthony tested his sprained left ankle, which has kept him out of action the previous three games, about an hour before the game at the New Orleans Arena. He showed little difficulty hitting a string of perimeter shots but appeared to be concerned about his mobility on drives to the hoop.
Nuggets coach George Karl said he wasn’t planning to have Anthony available and Linas Kleiza took the forward’s spot in the starting lineup.
“We’ve just got to go out there, throw guys out there and see what happens,” Karl said before the game.
