CHICAGO (AP) -The grandmother of Eddy Curry’s 3-year-old son says she plans to disobey a Cook County judge’s order to turn the boy over to the New York Knicks player.
Yolan Henry told the Chicago Tribune after a custody hearing Thursday that she considers herself to be on the run. She says she is trying to protect Noah Henry, not kidnap him.
Henry has had custody of the boy since her daughter and infant granddaughter were fatally shot in their Chicago home in January. Noah Curry was there but unharmed.
Judge Fe Fernandez ordered Henry to turn the boy over to his father’s attorneys, who have the option of calling law enforcement to take custody.
Henry and Curry’s attorneys didn’t immediately return messages from The Associated Press.
