CLEVELAND (AP) -Cleveland guard Delonte West was inactive Tuesday night against Memphis, two nights after returning from a 16-game absence with a fractured right wrist.
The Cavaliers said West is experiencing general soreness in the wrist and they want to be cautious with the 6-foot-3 guard, who just returned after being injured on Jan. 15.
West had one of the best games of his career Sunday in a 99-78 victory over Detroit. He scored a season-high 25 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field and making all five of his 3-point attempts. West, who shoots left-handed, wore a brace on his right wrist.
That game marked the first time since Dec. 30 that the Cavaliers had their complete starting lineup on the floor. While Cleveland went 12-4 without West, his presence was missed. He averages 12.6 points, shoots 47 percent, and is the Cavaliers’ best backcourt defender.
with injuries to center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and forwards Ben Wallace, Tarence Kinsey and Sasha Pavlovic.
Kinsey started in West’s place at shooting guard Tuesday. Pavlovic is expected to be out for about another month with a sprained right ankle suffered on Feb. 8.
