CLEVELAND (AP) -Cavaliers guard Delonte West has been cleared by doctors and will start Sunday night’s game against Detroit, his first action since breaking his right wrist in January.
West missed 16 games with the injury, which he sustained while trying to block a shot on Jan. 2 in Chicago. The Cavs went 12-4 without West, their best perimeter defender who is averaging 12.3 points, 3.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds.
While West was out, the Cavaliers, who lead the Central Division by 15 games, also had to deal with injuries to center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and forwards Ben Wallace, Tarence Kinsey and Sasha Pavlovic.
West’s return means Cleveland will have its starting lineup for the first time since Dec. 30.
