CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Charlotte Bobcats signed forward Cartier Martin for the remainder of the season on Wednesday, the day his second 10-day contract expired.
Martin first signed with Charlotte on Jan. 29, two days after starting small forward Gerald Wallace suffered a partially collapsed lung and broken rib. Martin, who had been playing with Iowa in the NBA’s development league, quickly earned a spot in coach Larry Brown’s rotation and was signed to a second 10-day deal Feb. 8.
Entering Wednesday’s game against Indiana, Martin was averaging 5.4 points and 1.7 rebounds and had connected on six of 15 3-pointers. Martin’s best game was Feb. 6 against Atlanta, when he scored 11 points.
