CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – A person familiar with the contract says free-agent forward Marvin Williams has agreed to a $14 million, two-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been made public. The person says the deal will be signed next week.
The 6-foot-9, 237-pound Williams has played nine seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz. Williams, 28, started 50 games last season for the Jazz, averaging 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while playing 35.4 minutes per game.
He has averaged 10.8 points per game for his career.
Williams played college basketball at North Carolina, the same school as Hornets owner Michael Jordan.
