Wizards heating up despite injuries
The Washington Wizards have won three of their last four games, including a surprising 116-98 win at Oklahoma City on Sunday night. The Wizards have covered the spread in four straight. Washington is 16-24 on the season, 5-17 on the road, 16-24 against the spread and 23-17 with the over.
The Wizards have one of the worst defenses in the NBA, allowing 116.4 points per game while opponents shoot 47.2 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from the arc. Offensively, Washington is putting up 112.6 points per game. Dwight Howard, John Wall and Markieff Morris are all on the long-term injury report for the Wizards. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 23.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while Trevor Ariza is adding 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest.
Philadelphia on a win streak
The 76ers are riding a three-game win streak right now following a 106-100 win at home over the Mavericks on Saturday. Philadelphia is 26-14 overall, 17-3 at home, 19-21 against the spread and 23-17 with the over.
Philadelphia is putting up 114.4 points per game on offense this season while giving up 112.2 points per game. Joel Embiid is leading the team with 26.9 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while Ben Simmons is putting up 16.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.9 assists per contest. Jimmy Butler has missed the last two games but is listed as probable to return tonight. He is averaging 18.0 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The Wizards are 17-35 against the spread in their last 52 road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games following a win, but they have covered the spread in four straight games following a failed cover.
Prediction:
The Wizards have been playing somewhat well as of late and I think that is why this spread is below double digits. The 76ers have been a very successful team at home and they are expected to be at full strength tonight with Butler returning. Washington doesn’t have a defense to stop the 76ers from scoring at will and I don’t think the Wizards will be able to match. Beal can have a big game, but the Wizards won’t get much help in the frontcourt. I like Philly to cover this big spread at home.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -8.5
