Wizards looking for third straight win
The Washington Wizards are coming off a 134-125 win at Chicago on Saturday for their third second straight win and cover. Washington is 24-32 on the season, 7-21 on the road, 25-31 against the spread and 34-22 with the over.
The Wizards have one of the worst defenses in the NBA, as they allow 116.6 points per game while opponents shoot 47.6 percent against them. Offensively, Washington is pretty solid, averaging 113.8 points per game while shooting 47 percent as a team. Jeff Green is questionable to play for the team tonight due to a hip injury. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 25 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while Bobby Portis has scored 40 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in his two games since joining the squad.
Pistons heating up
Detroit has won and covered the spread in three straight games thanks to a home-and-home set of wins over the Knicks and a 26-point win over the Nuggets last week. The Pistons are now 25-29 on the season, 16-13 at home, 25-27-2 against the spread and 31-23 with the under.
The Pistons are one of the stronger defensive teams in the league, allowing 107.8 points per game while limiting opponents to just 32.9 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Detroit is putting up 106.2 points per game while shooting just 43.6 percent from the field. The Pistons just recently added Wayne Ellington and he is questionable to debut for them tonight. Blake Griffin is leading the team with 26.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while Andre Drummond is adding 17.1 points and 14.9 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Washington
The Wizards are 19-39 against the spread in their last 58 road games, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win.
Detroit
The Pistons are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games when playing on two days of rest. However, they are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
The Pistons have been a tough team to figure out, but they clearly weren’t selling at the trade deadline, so it may have put some focus into this squad. They have won and covered in three straight and now host a Washington team that has no playoff aspirations. While the Wizards can score at a higher pace than Detroit, the Pistons can lock in defensively and they will have a big advantage on the glass tonight. I expect that to be the difference. Shots won’t come as easily for the Wizards and they won’t get many second chances. Detroit should also be able to pound the ball inside and take advantage of a thin Washington frontcourt.
NBA Prediction: Detroit Pistons -4
