Warriors acquiring Butler
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Warriors are acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Heat. The Warriors are giving up Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, Lindy Waters III, and a protected first-round pick.
Three days after it was reported that Butler was unwilling to agree to a contract extension with the Warriors, he’s headed to San Francisco. And he’s agreed to an extension worth $121 million through the 2026-27 season. Golden State’s taking a significant risk by adding the combustible star, but it’s clear they’re gambling on the leadership of Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr to pay dividends. When available, Butler shouldn’t have much difficulty providing top-50 fantasy value, and his simply being on the court is good news for managers who have him rostered. While Wiggins, Anderson, and the first-round pick are headed to Miami, the Jazz have acquired Schroder, and Lindy Waters III is going to Detroit. Miami is also sending Josh Richardson to Detroit.
LeBron probable to face Warriors
LeBron James (foot) is probable for Thursday’s game against Golden State. While James has consistently shown up on pregame injury reports due to left foot injury management, he has not missed time. Look for that to continue on Thursday as the Lakers host the Warriors.
