This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Jazz back on a losing streak
Utah was the hottest team in the NBA for weeks, but the Jazz have dropped three straight to the Rockets, Spurs and Nuggets. That includes a 106-100 loss at Denver on Thursday. The Jazz are 32-16 on the season, 14-12 on the road, 25-22-1 against the spread and 25-23 with the over.
The Jazz are a solid defensive team, allowing just 106.7 points per game while holding opponents to 44.7 percent shooting. Offensively, Utah is putting up 111.2 points per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from the arc. Utah is being led by Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 24.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.8 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest.
Blazers win third straight
Portland is coming off an emotional 127-119 win at Los Angeles last night in the Lakers’ first game since the passing of Kobe Bryant. The Blazers have now won three straight, all against winning teams. Portland is 22-27 on the season, 12-11 at home, 19-28-2 against the spread and 26-23 with the over.
The Blazers are putting up 113.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Defensively, Portland is giving up 114.9 points per game while opponents shoot 44.8 percent against them. Carmello Anthony has not played in the last week and it’s unknown if he will return to the team today. Damian Lillard has been leading the team with 29.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. CJ McCollum is adding 21.6 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 12-4 against the spread in their last 16 games on 1 day of rest and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a failed cover.
Portland
The Blazers are 2-7-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog.
Prediction:
The Jazz won the first meeting with Portland this season, 121-115 at home back in December. Both teams are going in opposite directions right now, but I think the season-long trend is more important than the last week. The Blazers haven’t maintained success for very long this year while Utah has been able to climb toward the top of the West. The Blazers are coming off an emotional game last night and have a quick turnaround with travel to now face a physical Utah squad that knows it can’t let this losing skid get out of hand. Lillard is on a tear right now, but I think the Jazz will bring the defensive energy and 3-point shooting it needs to have in order to cover.
NBA Prediction: Utah Jazz -6.5
