Jazz drop back-to-back games
Utah has been one of the hotter teams in the NBA the last month, but they are coming off back-to-back losses to the Rockets and the Spurs in the last week, including a 127-120 loss at San Antonio last night. The Jazz are 32-15 on the season, 14-11 on the road, 25-21-1 against the spread and 25-22 with the over.
The Jazz have been a defensive-led team, as they allow just 106.7 points per game while holding opponents to 44.7 percent shooting. Offensively, Utah is averaging 111.4 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and a league-best 38.4 percent from the arc. Utah Is led by Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 25.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Rudy Gobert is adding 15.7 points and 14.6 rebounds per contest.
Nuggets strong at home
Denver is coming off a 104-96 loss at Memphis on Tuesday, gut they return home after playing four of their last five on the road. The Nuggets are 32-15 on the season, 18-6 at home, 20-23-4 against the spread and 27-20 with the under.
The Nuggets are also a really strong defensive team, allowing just 106 points per game while holding opponents to only 33.6 percent shooting from 3-point land. Offensively, Denver is putting up 109.2 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field. The Nuggets continue to be without Jamal Murray and Paul Millsap due to injuries. Nikola Jokic leads the team with 19.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Will Barton is adding 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Utah
The Jazz are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games against a team with a winning home record, and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a failed cover.
Denver
The Nuggets are 6-0-2 against the spread in their last eight following a loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a failed cover.
Prediction:
The Jazz have won and covered the spread in three straight meetings with the Nuggets, but the two haven’t met up this season. Utah has struggled in recent games, as their defense has been surprisingly poor. The Nuggets have struggled offensively as of late, but I think they will settle in at home. Denver’s defense on the arc should help negate Utah’s shooting from the arc.
NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -1.5
