According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Bulls’ superstar Derrick Rose is the current favorite to win the 2011 NBA Regular Season MVP award. Rose is currently averaging 25.0 points per game, 8.2 assists per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Surrounding him in the odds are LeBron James (+150), Dwight Howard (+400) Amare Stoudemire (+450), Chris Paul (+450), Dirk Nowitzki (+450) and Kevin Durant (+500). Some long shots of note are the recently traded Carmelo Anthony (+3000) and Deron Williams (+20000), and Dwyane Wade (+1600) of the Miami Heat.

Some believe that Rose’s performance against the Heat on February 24 solidified him as the NBA MVP. He had a ton of help from teammate Luol Deng, but Rose scored 26 points, had six assists and five rebounds. He only shot 9-for-24 from the field, but he had a key assists on Deng’s go-ahead three-pointer with 16 seconds remaining to help lift the Bulls to a 93-89 victory.

James has won the last two MVP awards, while Kobe Bryant (+1400) won it in 2008. A forward has won the award four of the last seven years, while a guard has won it three of the last six years. The latest Bull to win the award was Michael Jordan, who took home the honor in 1998 (his fifth MVP award).
