Knicks continue epic slide
The New York Knicks have lost 16 straight games following a 104-99 loss at home to the Raptors on Saturday. New York did manage to cover in the loss, ending a 5-game losing streak at the betting window. The Knicks are now 10-45 on the season, 6-22 on the road, 23-31-1 against the spread and 29-26 with the under.
New York is putting up just 105.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting a league-worst 43 percent from the field. Defensively, the Knicks are giving up 114.3 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.3 percent. Dennis Smith Jr. is leading the team right now, averaging 19.3 points and 6.5 assists through his first four games with the team. Kevin Knox is adding 12.6 points per contest.
Cavs on a skid as well
Cleveland has suffered four straight losses following a 105-90 loss at Indiana on Sunday. The Cavs have failed to cover the spread in three of those four games. Cleveland is 11-45 on the season, 6-21 at home, 24-31-1 against the spread and 28-27-1 with the under.
The Cavaliers are putting up just 102.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Cavs are allowing 113.1 points per game while opponents shoot a league-best 49.3 percent against them. Jordan Clarkson is leading the team with 16.8 points per game while Collin Sexton is adding 14.8 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 1-10 against the spread in their last 11 games against a losing team and 6-15 ATS in their last 21 conference games.
Cleveland
The Cavaliers are just 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 games playing on 1 day of rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five Monday games.
Prediction:
Both teams have been a disaster this season, but the Cavs have at least showed some fight at times throughout recent weeks. Kevin Love made his return on Friday and played a few minutes, so he may be able to increase his load a little tonight and give Cleveland some quality minutes against a depleted New York team. The Knicks are all about tanking for the top spot in the draft, so I just don’t see them being too motivated to try and pick up this very winnable game. Their last three road games have been double-digit losses.
NBA Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers -1.5
