Kyrie Irving didn’t play, for reasons we all know by now and Seth Curry sat this one out with a sore left ankle but KD exploded for 53 points, nine assists and six rebounds. The Nets were atrocious from 3-point range, going 6-for-29 (20.7 percent) and the Knicks put up a fight but Durant helped them get a key victory.
The Magic (18-51 SU, 33-36 ATS) are also coming off a hard-fought battle. The 76ers went to Orlando as 11-point favorites but the Magic had them on the ropes and lost a heart-breaker 116-114 at overtime. Wendell Carter Jr. led the Magic with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Cole Anthony added 19 points and eight rebounds but star rookie Franz Wagner had a quiet game with just six points and seven points.
Prediction
Kevin Durant is playing like a man on a mission and the Nets will have Kyrie Irving (plus-4.3 Box Plus/Minus) and possibly Seth Curry (plus-0.5 Box Plus/Minus). That’s a lot of firepower compared to what Orlando has but the Magic are a young, hungry team that’s getting healthier while developing chemistry and they almost upset the 76ers on Sunday.
