LINE MOVEMENT
Detroit opened as a 3.5-point favorite, while the total remains at 221 points. The Pistons are a 4-point favorite nearly everywhere, but there are sportsbooks such as YouWager that are offering it at -4.5. The total is set at either 210.5 or 211.
PUBLIC BETTING
As of Saturday afternoon, 67 percent of public bets are pouring in on the visiting Pistons. Online wager info also states that 51 percent of bets are being placed on the over.
INJURY TO WATCH
Detroit point guard Reggie Jackson (ankle) is probable to play, while power forward Blake Griffin (ankle) is out until mid-April. Power forward Jon Leuer (ankle) is out for the season. For the Knicks, center Kyle O’Quinn (hip) and shooting guard Courtney Lee (foot) are both probable. Point guard Frank Ntilikina (illness) and shooting guard Damyean Dotson (foot) are both questionable. Center Enes Kanter (back) is doubtful. Center Joakim Noah (personal), power forward Kristaps Porzingis (knee) and shooting guard Ron Baker (shoulder) are all out for the season.
BETTING STRATEGY
Detroit is not yet officially eliminated from postseason contention, but the chances of making it are Mega Millions-winner slim. And with Griffin out, it’s probably time to fold the tent. This isn’t a Pistons team with a lot of young talent to give experience to the last couple weeks of the season, but expect more minutes to be diverted to bench and role players. New York has been firmly focused on the future since the injury to Porzingis and the results haven’t always been pretty, but it has been tough at home the bulk of the season. I’ll take the points with the Knicks. On a sidenote, New York shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and point guard Trey Burke probably arenn’t thrilled with a 5PM ET start when their alma mater plays in the Final Four an hour later.
