Heat vs. Nets Pick
Are the host Brooklyn Nets going to secure a home victory this evening when they battle the Miami Heat at 6PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Heat are a 2.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 212 points.
Miami comes in with an 11-13 overall record and 8-14-2 ATS after a 117-105 loss at the Spurs. Brooklyn is 10-14 overall and 16-8 ATS following a 100-95 victory over the Thunder in Mexico City. The Heat went 4-0 straight up and 3-0-1 ATS in four meetings last season. The under went 4-0.
In the defeat at San Antonio, Tyler Johnson scored a team-best 25 points to go with three rebounds and two assists off the bench. Dion Waiters accounted for 22 points and five assists. Josh Richardson added 19 points, two boards and two assists. Miami was outscored 60-47 in the second half.
Caris LeVert had a career nght versus Oklahoma City as he tallied 21 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots to guide the way to the victory. Allen Crabbe registered 15 points and six rebounds. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Brooklyn trailed 58-49 at halftime, but proceeded to outscored the Thunder 51-37 the rest of the way.
Miami is 18-6 ATS in its last 24 meetings in Brooklyn. The Nets are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Brooklyn was shorthanded in Mexico City, but looked good in notching a win over the Thunder. The Nets will again be light on the depth chart today as Jahlil Okafor will miss another game after Brooklyn traded for him late this past week. But sometimes not having additional bodies leads to increased opportunities, which it did for the likes of LeVert and the interior duo of Tyler Zeller and Jarrett Allen. Look for the hosts to find solid contributions from a number of players to get the Nets yet another against the spread win.
