Wizards vs. Mavericks Prediction
Are the Washington Wizards a bad bet to cover the point spread versus the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night when the two teams meet at 8:30 p.m. ET?
WHO ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Washington. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Wizards are 2-point road favorites to beat the Mavericks, who opened as a 1.5-point home underdog. The total, meanwhile, sits at 212.5 points after hitting the board at 213.5.
WHO PUBLIC BETTORS LIKE: Washington. As of Monday afternoon, 69% of betting tickets and 92% of the money wagered at online sports books are on the Wizards. As for the total, 68% of the betting tickets and 62% of the money is on the over.
WHO WE LIKE: Dallas. Devin Harris (head) is questionable and the Mavericks will be without Nerlens Noel (thumb) but I still like Dallas to cover. Washington has simply been a bad bet of late. The Wizards failed to cover the spread in nine of their last 10 games versus Mavs. They’re also just 8-20 at the betting window in their last 28 games following a win, are 2-6 against the number in their last eight road games, and are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games overall.
On the other side, the Mavs have covered in nine of their last 11 games coming off an ATS loss. They’re also 12-3-1 at the betting window in their last 16 games versus a team with a winning record and are 5-2 against the number in their last seven games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in its previous game.
