Curry, Warriors shoot for 70 against Wolves
Golden State’s search for 70 could be realized in a few short hours.
Fresh off Sunday’s 136-111 annihilation of Portland, the Warriors seek to become just the second team to reach such a lofty victory total in a single season. They host fading Minnesota at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Oddsmakers like Steve Kerr’s club’s prospects of drawing that much closer to the 1995-96 Bulls’ record 72 wins. According to online sports book Bovada.lv, Golden State is a 15-point favorite this evening.
Two nights ago, the Warriors became the first squad to reach 1,000 3-pointers in a campaign when they mauled the Blazers with 30 of them. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined to sink 11 treys, while Draymond Green added yet another triple-double.
Needless to say, this is not a good recipe for the Timberwolves to suddenly get well. They’ve lost three straight, including an 88-78 defeat to Dallas on Sunday. Andrew Wiggins accounted for 38.5 percent of the points in that affair, and rookie Karl-Anthony Towns logged a double-double.

Still, Minnesota gave the Mavs 14 3-pointers. Sam Mitchell’s group is now 10-24 when the opposition reaches double figures in the perimeter department. It’s a deadly vice to possess when dealing with Golden State, which downed the Wolves in the most recent meeting between the two organizations. Thompson canned five long balls in that one, and he and his fellow Splash Brother will delight in doing the same tonight.
