Clippers struggling to end season
The Clippers ended a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a win over a short-handed Utah, but Los Angeles has failed to cover in its last four coming into the playoffs. The Clippers are 48-34 on the season, 22-19 on the road, 45-36-1 against the spread and 45-36-1 with the over.
Los Angeles is putting up 115.1 points per game on offense this season, shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Clippers are giving up 114.3 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 45.7 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from the arc. Lou Williams has led the team from the bench, averaging 20.0 points and 5.4 assists per game. Danilo Gallinari is adding 19.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.
Warriors on top
Golden State is coming off a 132-117 loss to Memphis in the season finale, but the Warriors mailed it in then and had won six straight prior to that. Golden State is 57-25 on the season, 30-11 at home, 35-46-1 against the spread and 44-38 with the under.
The Warriors are one of the top offenses in the nation, putting up 117.7 points per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from the arc. Defensively, Golden State is giving up 111.2 points per game while opponents shoot 44.4 percent against them and 34.7 percent from 3-point land. Stephen Curry has been dealing with an ankle injury, but is probable to play tonight. Curry has been leading the team with 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Kevin Durant is adding 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Clippers are 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight road games and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 division games.
Golden State
The Warriors are 9-20-1 against the spread in their last 30 home games, but 4-0 ATS in their last four on two days of rest.
Prediction:
The Warriors have had a bad habit of playing down to competition this season, especially when not motivated to “turn it on.” I don’t know if the Clippers will provide that challenge, but Golden State has covered in its last two against the Clippers this season. The Warriors beat them last week by 27 points at home. I would expect more of the same. The Clippers don’t have the horses to compete with Golden State and the Warriors should cruise as long as they come ready to play.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -12.5
