Durant out of the season?
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (TheSpread) – Just when it looked like Kevin Durant might be coming back to the Thunder, the team got bad news on Friday as he has been shut down indefinitely.
OKC’s general manager Sam Presti said on Friday that Durant has been removed from basketball activities and could end up being shut down for the season as his foot injury continues to be a problem for him. It was recently expected that Durant could return next week, but he experienced soreness following practice earlier in the week. Durant had surgery on his foot back on Feb. 23 to alleviate soreness and discomfort from a screw that he had inserted during a surgery back in October to repair a Jones fracture.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Thunder are currently listed at 8/1 to win the 2015 NBA Finals, which are the fourth-shortest odds. Cleveland is the current favorite at 21/10 while Golden State has 7/2 odds and San Antonio is listed at 15/2.
Durant has played in just 27 games this season, averaging 25.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season. Oklahoma City is currently 38-30 on the season and in the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference by one game over New Orleans. OKC has been led by Russell Westbrook, who is making an MVP run with Durant out. Durant and Westbrook have played together just 21.7 percent of the season, according to ESPN stats.
