Rockets fall at Nets
Houston lost by a score of 123-116 Friday night at Brooklyn to drop to 3-2 overall and 1-1 on the road. The Rockets are also the only NBA team yet to have covered a spread this season. Houston trailed 95-83 through three quarters and could not rally in the fourth. James Harden paced the Rockets with 36 points on 10-of-36 shooting including 2-of-16 from 3-point range and 14-of-15 at the free throw line. He also registered eight assists and five rebounds. Russell Westbrook accounted for 27 points, eight assists, seven boards and four steals. Danuel House Jr. tallied 15 points and five caroms. Clint Capela added 10 points and four rebounds.
Heat sweep Hawks in home-and-home
Miami won 106-97 Friday night at Atlanta to win both ends of the home-and-home and improve to 4-1 overall plus 2-1 on the road. The Heat led 85-75 through three quarters on their way to the victory. Kendrick Nunn paced Miami with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting including 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also accounted for two rebounds and two steals. Tyler Herro contributed 17 points, four boards and three dimes off the bench. Myles Leonard recorded 16 points, eight caroms, two assists and two blocked shots. Duncan Robinson had 12 points and three rebounds. Bam Adebayo added 12 points, seven assists, six boards and two blocks.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 5-0 ATS in their last five Sunday games. Houston is 0-6 ATS in its last six games overall.
Miami
The Heat are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Miami is 21-5-1 ATS in their last 27 games versus the Southwest Division.
Prediction:
The Rockets are eventually going to cover a spread, but I don’t see it happening here as Miami is playing good basketball and getting contributions from everyone on its roster. Houston is reliant so much on Harden and Westbrook so with the Heat being good defensively in the backcourt, that’s a big disadvantage right off the back. The Heat look like a playoff team right now and I think they get another nice win here.
