Battier still basking in run
STATELINE, Nevada (AP) – Shane Battier is still basking in the Miami Heat championship run.
When he stepped off the plane after arriving at this week’s American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe, the first person Battier saw was former NFL great Emmitt Smith.

The former Dallas Cowboys star greeted Battier by saying “Congratulations, champ.”
Battier’s 11th season netted his first NBA title, and nearly a month later, he’s still celebrating. That’s why he’s not worried too much about how he fares in a field expected to include Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, John Elway, Greg Maddux, Tony Romo, Urban Meyer and actor Ray Romano.
Says Battier: “Even if I’m terrible, I’m still an NBA champion.”
