Hornets snap win streak
The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a 119-103 loss at Boston on Sunday to snap their brief 2-game win streak. They are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games. Charlotte is 16-16 overall, 4-9 on the road, 17-15 against the spread and 17-15 with the over.
The Hornets are middle of the road in most major NBA stats. Offensively, they average 112.8 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Defensively, the Hornets are giving up 110.8 points per game while opponents shoot 46.2 percent from the floor. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 24.8 points and 6.2 assists per game while Jeremy Lamb is adding 14.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
Nets surging
The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a 111-103 win over Phoenix on Sunday. They have won eight of their last nine while covering the spread in eight of their last 10. The Nets are now 16-19 overall, 8-11 at home, 18-17 against the spread and 18-17 with the under.
On the season, the Nets’ numbers aren’t all too impressive. They average just 110.5 points per game on offense while allowing 111.1 per game on defense. Over their last five games, the Nets are scoring 114.4 per game while giving up 109.4 per contest. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team with 17.6 points and 5.1 assists per game while D’Angelo Russell is adding 17.5 points and 6.3 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games following a loss and 6-13-1 against the spread in their last 20 Wednesday games.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following a win and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 games against Southeast Division opponents.
Prediction:
These two teams have yet to meet this season. Charlotte has done pretty well over the history of the series, but the Nets have really started to click. The Nets aren’t just beating up on bad teams either, as they beat the 76ers and Raptors during this run. They also just topped a Suns team that has been pretty hot as well. Charlotte seems like a team that is just floating along. Not too dangerous, but not just a gimmie either. I don’t expect this one-dimensional offense to succeed on the road against a Nets team that is using a lot of team balance to win games.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets -2
