Anthony unhappy with Knicks
NEW YORK (TheSpread) – The NBA Draft is a chance to improve teams instantly, but Carmelo Anthony apparently didn’t feel the New York Knicks did that on Thursday night.
According to ESPN.com, Anthony was unhappy with the Knicks’ drafting of Kristaps Porzingis with the No. 4 pick on Thursday. The international draftee is a player that is being discussed as needing a few years before being able to contribute to the team, something Anthony was hoping wouldn’t be the case with the No. 4 pick. Along with the pick, the Knicks also traded away Tim Hardaway Jr., a teammate that Anthony seemed to like.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Knicks are currently listed at 100/1 to win the NBA Finals next season. Cleveland is the current favorite at 14/5 to win, while Golden State has 11/2 odds and Oklahoma City has 15/2 odds.
Anthony is coming off a 2014-15 season where he appeared in just 40 games due to injury. He averaged 24.2 points with 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Anthony signed a lengthy new contract with New York prior to the season, but did so under the impression the team was looking to win now under the leadership of Phil Jackson.
