According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Heat are favored in the East, as they have 5/9 odds to win. Other short odds to win the conference title are the Boston Celtics (6/1) and the Chicago Bulls (7/1).

The Heat won the NBA Championship last season, the second in franchise history. The Heat are led by the trio of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. This season, Miami added even more talent, including Ray Allen into the mix. The Heat have won the Eastern Conference three times.

The Celtics lost in the Eastern Conference Finals last year to the Heat in 7 games. Boston has its own trio of talent with Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett. The Celtics also added Jason Terry in the offseason. Boston has won 21 conference titles in franchise history, with the last coming in 2010.

The Bulls actually lost in the first round of the NBA playoffs last year despite being the No. 1 seed. Chicago lost in part due to Derrick Rose blowing out his knee in the first game of the playoffs. The Bulls didn’t adjust the roster much, as they feel a healthy Rose can lead them to a title. The Bulls have won the conference title six times in franchise history, with the last coming in 1998.
