Rockets rally past Clippers
Houston is coming off a 122-117 win at Los Angeles on Thursday after being down big against the Clippers. Houston has won six of its last eight, but they are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven. The Rockets are 19-9 on the season, 9-5 on the road, 13-15 against the spread and 16-12 with the under.
The Rockets are putting up 119.8 points per game on offense, making them one of the strongest offensive teams in the league this year. They are shooting 45.1 percent as a team this season. Defensively, the Rockets are giving up 114.4 points per game while opponents shoot 45.7 percent against them. James Harden is leading the team with 38.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. Russell Westbrook is adding 23.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest.
Suns drop five straight
Phoenix has lost five straight games following a 126-108 loss at Oklahoma City last night. They are just 1-3-1 against the spread in their current losing skid. The Suns are now 11-17 on the season, 6-10 at home, 15-12-1 against the spread and 16-12 with the over.
The Suns are putting up 114.8 points per game this season while shooting 47.4 percent as a team. Defensively, the Suns are giving up 114.5 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent against them. Phoenix could be without Deandre Ayton again due to an ankle injury. He is listed as questionable, but missed last night’s game. Devin Booker is leading the team with 24.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists per contest. Kelly Oubre Jr. is adding 17.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games as a road favorite and 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games against a team with a losing home record.
Phoenix
The Suns are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games when playing on no rest and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.
Prediction:
The Rockets have won their last 10 against the Suns, but Phoenix is 5-1 against the spread in the last six in the series. The Rockets are coming off a nice win over the Clippers, but Houston is a team that plays to the level of its competition far too often. The Rockets beat the Spurs by just two, lost at home to the Pistons, but the Cavs by just six and lost to the Kings by one in recent outings. While Phoenix played last night, the Suns have actually been pretty solid on back-to-backs. Booker is a player that can score with the likes of Harden and Westbrook, and I think he will play well at home. I am going to roll the dice on Phoenix at home tonight.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns +6
