Heat gets past Raptors in OT
Miami is coming off a 121-110 OT win at Toronto last night for a third straight victory. The Heat are now 15-5 on the season, 7-5 on the road, 14-5-1 against the spread and 10-9 with the over.
The Heat are solid on both sides of the ball right now. The defense is allowing just 105.4 points per game while holding teams to 43.6 percent shooting from the field and 31.2 percent from the arc. Offensively, Miami is putting up 111.8 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 39 percent from the arc. Jimmy Butler has been leading the team with 19 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game, while Kendrick Nunn is averaging 15.7 points per contest. Goran Dragic has been putting up 15.9 points off the bench, but he is out tonight with a groin injury.
Celtics well rested
Boston is coming off a 113-104 win at New York back on Sunday for a third win in four games. The Celtics come into this game at 14-5 overall, 7-0 at home, 11-6-2 against the spread and 11-8 with the under.
The Celtics are strong defensively this year, allowing just 104.5 points per game while holding opponents to 43.3 percent shooting. Offensively, Boston is putting up 110.7 points per game while shooting just 44.1 percent from the field. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Jayson Tatum is adding 21.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The Celtics could be without Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart tonight. Hayward is out with a hand injury while Smart is doubtful due to an abdominal injury.
NBA Betting Trends
Miami
The Heat are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games against conference opponents and 36-17 ATS in their last 53 Wednesday games.
Boston
The Celtics are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games against a winning team and 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Prediction:
These two have yet to meet this season, but I have to side with the Celtics tonight. The Heat are coming off a hard-fought OT win in Toronto last night and now have a quick turnaround against a Boston team that hasn’t lost at home this year. The last time the Raptors did a back-to-back, they lost 113-86 at Philadelphia. The Celtics have had a few days off and should be rested and ready to go. Even slightly short-handed at guard, I think the Celtics have the energy on defense that should hold back the tired Heat tonight.
NBA Prediction: Boston Celtics -6
