HUMBLE, Texas (AP) – Roger Penske says Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin have exchanged text messages since their final-lap crash at Fontana last weekend that left Hamlin with a fractured vertebra.
Penske said he’s also sent text messages to Hamlin, who’s expected to miss at least six weeks. Penske and Logano, one his drivers, were playing in the pro-am leading up to his week’s PGA Houston Open.
Logano also got into a post-race altercation with Tony Stewart and Stewart later called Logano “nothing but a little rich kid that’s never had to work in his life.”
Logano turned down interview requests as he hit balls on the driving range on Tuesday and Wednesday. NASCAR returns to action April 7 at Martinsville Speedway, and Penske said it’s time for everyone to “settle down.”
