CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Michael Waltrip Racing has released executive vice president Cal Wells.
The team made the announcement in a Monday statement. Wells had been with the team since its 2007 inception.
Team co-owner Rob Kauffman thanked Wells for his contributions to MWR, adding the team believes the “solid management” team now in place can take the organization to the next level.
Wells left now-defunct CART to become a NASCAR team owner in 2000. PPI Motorsports ran from 2000 until 2006. He then partnered with Waltrip in 2007 to give the new team PPI’s owner points.
Wells was named executive vice president later that year.
