BALTIMORE (AP) -Jorge Posada wasn’t in the New York Yankees lineup against the Orioles on Sunday, but manager Joe Girardi believes he’ll be catching again soon.
Posada’s sore right arm has kept him from starting behind the plate since April 8.
“There’s no pain and there’s no structural damage,” Girardi said before the game. “He’ll be back, and I’d be surprised if he didn’t catch next week.”
Girardi didn’t start Posada on Sunday because rain was forecast and the Yankees were playing in the afternoon following a night game.
Posada played first base Saturday – his first game in the field since his injury and just his 13th career start there. He took a day off from throwing Sunday.
