CHICAGO (AP) -Center fielder Darin Erstad came off the disabled list Friday and then he came out of the Chicago White Sox’s lineup after just one-half inning.
Erstad had been on the DL since June 1 with a sprained ankle and the White Sox were 5-14 without him.
Erstad made a diving catch in the top of the first to rob the Cubs’ Mike Fontenot of a hit. When the White Sox came up in the bottom of the first, Luis Terrero pinch-hit for Erstad in the leadoff spot.
Erstad was batting .264 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 47 games. He agreed to $1 million, one-year contract with the White Sox in January.
