KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Kansas City Royals promoted J.J. Picollo to assistant general manager of scouting and player development on Thursday.
In his new role, he will be the final authority on the team’s free agent scouting.
Picollo followed Royals GM Dayton Moore to the Royals from the Atlanta Braves in 2006 as the director of player development. He will continue in that capacity with his new title.
Picollo worked for the Braves from 1999 to 2006 in both scouting and player development.
Before his time in the Braves organization, Picollo served as a recruiting coordinator and a baseball instructor for five years at George Mason and George Washington universities.
