CHICAGO (AP) -The Colorado Rockies recalled catcher Edwin Bellorin from Triple-A Colorado Springs with Yorvit Torrealba serving the first of a two-game suspension Sunday.
To make room on the roster, the Rockies optioned infielder Jonathan Herrera to the Triple-A club.
Torrealba was suspended for a fight with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Matt Kemp on June 3. Torrealba, batting .234 with two home runs and 17 RBIs, initially was suspended for three games.
Bellorin appeared in three games last season for the Rockies and was 0-for-2. He was hitting .310 with two homers and 38 RBIs for Colorado Springs.
Herrera was batting .230 with three RBIs in 61 at-bats for the Rockies.
