CHICAGO (AP) – The Boston Red Sox held Shane Victorino out of the lineup Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox because of tightness in his left hamstring.
Manager John Farrell said he was still feeling some tightness after leaving Monday’s game and is day to day. Victorino was running the bases in the sixth when his left hamstring started to bother him, and he was replaced in right field in the bottom of the inning. He also missed games on Friday and Saturday with a back injury.
Farrell wasn’t sure if the injuries were related but seemed to suspect a link, saying “lower back and hamstring, at some point they’re interrelated, so we got to treat the symptoms.”
Victorino is batting .283 with two home runs.
