CLEVELAND (AP) -The tarp covered the infield at damp Jacobs Field on Tuesday night, about 1 1/2 hours before the first pitch of Game 4 of the AL championship series between the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox.
With a 30 percent chance of rain, there was a possibility of delays.
Pregame batting practice was canceled as players used the indoor cages to get in some swings before Cleveland’s Paul Byrd faced Boston knuckleballer Tim Wakefield.
There were on-and-off showers all day in the area, which has enjoyed unseasonably warm temperatures this month. The teams have a scheduled off day on Wednesday in preparation of Game 5 on Thursday.
