PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Phillies activated outfielder Michael Bourn off the disabled list before Monday night’s game against Colorado.
Bourn, in his first full season with the Phillies, had been out since the end of July with a sprained left ankle. The reserve outfielder was batting .284 with a homer, six RBIs and 18 stolen bases.
The Phillies, who have been plagued by injuries most of the season, also hope to get ace left-hander Cole Hamels back soon. He played catch for the second straight day on Sunday and manager Charlie Manuel said Hamels could throw off the mound either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hamels (14-5, 3.50) has been out since Aug. 16 with a strained left elbow.
Philadelphia began the day six games back of the New York Mets in the NL East and trailing San Diego by two games in the wild-card standings.
