PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The San Diego Padres recalled Tim Stauffer from Triple-A Portland to start Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Stauffer was 8-4 with a 4.40 ERA in 24 appearances – 19 starts – with Portland this season. He had 91 strikeouts and 34 walks in 124 2-3 innings. He made one start with San Diego on July 29 against Houston, giving up seven runs in 3 2-3 innings en route to a no-decision.
The Padres optioned Clay Hensley to Portland to make room on the roster. The right-hander was 2-3 with a 6.43 ERA in 12 games – nine starts.
