SAN DIEGO (AP) -Greg Maddux will go for his 350th career victory Friday at Arizona, a day earlier than originally scheduled.
The San Diego Padres flip-flopped their scheduled starters for the first two games of the weekend series, with Maddux (2-0, 2.00 ERA) set to go Friday against Dan Haren and Chris Young (1-1, 5.17) going Saturday night against Edgar Gonzalez.
Manager Bud Black said Maddux likes to stay on his five-day rotation and that Young had a little more stiffness in his elbow than usual.
Young threw 80 pitches in three-plus innings in an 11-1 loss at the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. He allowed seven runs, seven hits and four walks, retiring only nine of the 21 batters he faced.
