WASHINGTON (AP) -Major League Baseball owners voted unanimously Thursday to approve Bill Neukom as controlling owner of the San Francisco Giants.
Neukom will take over Oct. 1, when Peter Magowan retires.
Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis. He was also president of the American Bar Association until his term expired early this week.
Magowan, also 66, announced his retirement in May. He will retain an ownership stake in the franchise.
Giants executive vice president Larry Baer will become team president on Oct. 1.
