WASHINGTON (AP) -Struggling pitcher Adam Eaton has been released by the Baltimore Orioles, who lost patience with the right-hander after he won only two of eight starts.
Eaton gave up seven runs 4 2-3 innings against the New York Yankees on Thursday, a performance that left him 2-5 with an 8.56 ERA. He allowed nine homers and 19 walks in 41 innings, and failed to last longer than six innings in seven of his eight starts.
Eaton was signed as a free agent in March after being released by the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Orioles recalled right-hander Matt Albers to replace Eaton. It’s the third stint with Baltimore for Albers this season; he’s 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in eight games.
